Museum entranceMuseum Catering Company takes pride in serving food and drink in spectacular surroundings, including our host venue at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. Wherever we work — historic mansions, museum galleries, private homes or corporate headquarter — owners Bruce and Beatrice Nichols have set a goal of providing events that are among the finest in the region. Our sales staff is eager to discuss the special touches that will make your event stand out in the memory of your guests.

Philadelphians' first exposure to Beatrice Nichols' culinary skills began in the mid 1980s at her restaurant, ECCO. A frequent patron of ECCO was Dr. Robert Dyson, Director of the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. The museum had always used several caterers, but the disappearance of a crystal ball, said to belong to the last Empress of China, helped crystalize security concerns. Although the crystal ball was later recovered, the incident helped define the need for a more structured food service. In 1989, Museum Catering Company was created, offering upscale event catering in the galleries and fresh foods daily in the Museum Cafe.

In over 15 years at the museum, Museum Catering Company has mastered international, historic and regional cuisines that complement the galleries' diverse collections and please the palates of all guests. Our reputation has allowed us to host many honored guests, including political leaders such as President Clinton, Mayor Rendell, President Gorbachev, President Ziang Zhemin, Lady Thatcher in addition to musician and human rights activist Bono. Leaders from the business, educational, entertainment and social worlds also have chosen Museum Catering Company when they wished to create memorable impressions at locations around the region.
